On Wednesday, November 27, Carmen Ene received her French naturalization decree from Amélie Trioux, director of the office of the prefect of Aude. An immense joy and great pride but, quite simply, a logical continuation for Carmen Ene.

Carmen Ene, an anesthetist-resuscitator from Romania, will experience her first Christmas this December 25 as a French citizen. A celebration all the more symbolic for this Trébéenne, settled in the region since 2009 and whose naturalization is the result of a long journey strewn with obstacles.

A long road to naturalization

His path to French citizenship was not easy. After sending a first request in 2018, the file was lost following administrative restructuring. Despite this incident, Carmen did not give up. In 2022, she renewed her request, this time again overcoming some administrative difficulties before finally receiving the long-awaited summons.

The only Trebean present at the ceremony, she met another Trebean Casimir Garcia, who represented the National Order of Merit. It was only natural that Casimir accompanied her throughout the ceremony.

A professional life dedicated to others

Born in Romania, having chosen to learn French in class, Carmen Ene began her career as an anesthetist-resuscitator at the Bucharest University Hospital. A few years later, she worked in the private sector. Faced with a complicated context, the desire to cast off becoming more and more pressing, Carmen Ene decided to join .

With the firm intention of responding positively to the first hospital that contacted her, Doctor Ene arrived in France in 2009, welcomed by Philippe Simonet, the deputy director of medical affairs at the hospital center. Since then, the doctor has enjoyed working alongside dedicated nurses and caregivers, with whom she forms a united team, despite the challenges linked to staff shortages in hospitals.

A life anchored in the region

Carmen and her husband Radu fell in love with the region as soon as they arrived in France in 2009. This deep connection with their new place led them to buy a house in Trèbes in 2012.

Carmen appreciates simple pleasures: her vegetable garden, knitting, walks, music and reading which recharge her batteries between consultations and on-calls.

This year, Carmen will celebrate Christmas as a Frenchwoman, a dream she has had for years. She will share it with her husband and their daughter Teodora, 23, a student in biomedical sciences.

For Carmen, this naturalization is much more than an administrative document: it is recognition of her integration, her commitment and her love for her adopted country.
