As December 24 approaches, the last Christmas markets are being organized throughout . Between traditions, activities and craft discoveries, it is the ideal opportunity to make your last purchases and enjoy the festive atmosphere.

Christmas markets continue to punctuate the days throughout Martinique. Until December 28, the towns are offering activities, craft exhibitions and friendly moments around local flavors and Christmas traditions.

This Wednesday, December 18, the covered and fish markets of Lamentin were already vibrating to the rhythm of Christmas festivities. Young and old alike were able to enjoy several activities with a family and authentic atmosphere.

The children were treated to a cocoa breaking demonstration, an educational activity which allowed them to discover this local product. The cocoa seeds obtained were then distributed to the children.

Another notable moment of the day: the distribution of hot chocolate and buttered bread, a gourmet tradition which delighted the visitors.

Fresh meat and fish, traditional clothing, plants, vegetables and fruits… As for exhibitors, there was a wide choice for all tastes.

Friday December 20

  • Saint-Pierre : Solidarity Christmas market organized by the Louis Delgrès college from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Sainte-Marie : Christmas market at Emmanuel Saldès college from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., with musical entertainment, sale of pastries, drinks and a nwel song.
  • Rivière-Salée : Village market, rue Joinville Saint-Prix from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Exhibitors of fruits, vegetables, local sweets, artisanal creations and natural products.
  • Anse d’Arlet : From 3 p.m. on the Petite-Anse grounds. Sale of gift ideas and local products. At 8 p.m., sang nwel with the group 972 Nwel.
  • Fort-de- : Special Christmas night in the city center from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Musical entertainment with 5 stages: salsa, souk, compass and Christmas carols.
  • Sainte-Anne : Nwel Village, with more than 30 exhibitors, raffle, entertainment and nwel singing from 10 a.m. on places V.Placoly and A.Morland. The festivities will continue until December 28, with activities for everyone, including the Children’s Village planned for December 28.

Saturday December 21

  • Fort-de-France : Traditional Christmas Market on the Savane, organized by the Machann Foyal Association.
  • Marin : Christmas at the Market from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the covered market, with a competition for the best traditional pâté.
  • Ducos : Christmas village from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. with more than 60 exhibitors, a culinary show hosted by Auntie Maryse, entertainment for children and a nwel song with Bakwa Nwèl.
  • Sainte-Anne : Noël Ek Sport, an event which combines friendly football and handball matches, music and meals from 3:30 p.m. at the Pointe Marin stadium.
  • Rivière-Salée: Young people from the Second Chance School Martinique Sud (E2C Martinique Sud) are organizing a solidarity Christmas market, “Maché Nwel Yonn a lot”, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in its premises located in the Médecin district.

The collection of gifts is organized for the benefit of children placed in a Home (children aged 0 to 18). The general public is called upon to give gifts, new or used, in order to offer the magic of Christmas to children who will spend the holidays far from their families.

The festivities continue until the end of the month, particularly in Sainte-Anne, where the market extends until December 28, with activities dedicated to children and festive moments for young and old.
