The second opus of the‘Urban Opera Did it live up to the hopes held by the Company? The Machine et Toulouse? The Toulouse Metropolis hoped to generate around ten million euros from this major event in the Toulouse cultural calendar.

It’s (almost) done. THE Great show by La Machinewhich saw things big during three days of shows on both sides of the Garonne, between October 25 and 27, 2024, is indeed offering a jackpot to the Pink City and its economy.

10.5 million euros in benefits

The economic returns from the second opus have doubled compared to those of 2018, estimated between 5 and 10 million euros. According to the president of Toulouse Métropole, Jean-Luc Moudenc, the benefits of this 2024 edition, which he describes as “appreciable”, amount to 10.5 million euros throughout the country.

A sum that encompasses several sectors: catering, public transport and hotels, to name just three.

Tourists there

During the last metropolitan council, in mid-December, Jean-Luc Moudenc spoke of an increase of 4 to 10% in occupancy in Toulouse hotels compared to last year, over the same period.

On the tourist office side, the number of visitors tripled around this show, which attracted no less than 1.2 million spectators .

A jump in attendance on buses and metros

Crowds reflected in public transport. Remember that many streets had been closed to traffic and that many others prohibited parking.

From then on, on board the Toulouse metro, bus and tramway, Tisséorecords 1,073,000 validations, or 400,000 more than the previous week. Nice milestone reached.

More than 4.5 million euros advanced

The Urban Opera, version 2, can therefore easily boast of these golden news. The reward is great for those who have spent, all the same, more than 4.5 million euros.

Note, however, that 300 to 400,000 euros would have been saved thanks to good organization, underlined elected official Francis Grass, in charge of culture. Bet held for Asterion, Lilith and Ariadne.
