Fertilizers: Brazil opens anti-dumping investigation into imports of phosphoric acid from Morocco

Brazil is looking into pricing Moroccan phosphate exports. According to several local media, including Uolthe Brazilian Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex), under the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Services (MDIC), opened an anti-dumping investigation into imports of phosphoric acid from three countries, China , Mexico, and Morocco.

According to the same source, which cites a decree published in the country’s Official Journal, the investigation will concern the period from April 2023 to March 2024, while the period relating to the analysis of trends useful for determining damage for local industry will cover the period from April 2019 to March 2024.

As a reminder, Morocco, through the OCP group, was the third supplier of fertilizers to Brazil at the end of June 2023, according to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), for a value of 147 million dollars, in increase of more than 50% over one year. The Kingdom was ahead of Russia ($338 million) and Canada ($184 million) in this market.

The OCP group has two Brazilian subsidiaries, OCP Brasil and OCP Fertilizantes, and holds 10.5% of the capital of the third Brazilian fertilizer distributor Fertilizantes Heringer.
