Walmart Canada will match donations collected in Christmas potsël placed in its stores up to $100,000

TORONTO, Dec 19 2024 /CNW/ – La 15e Walmart Canada’s annual “Walmart Fills Our Pots” campaign will help The Salvation Army meet the immediate needs of many Canadians struggling during the holiday season.

In fact, on Saturday, December 21, Walmart Canada will match donations placed in pots placed in its participating stores nationwide, up to $100,000.

“Every day, more and more Canadians are having to make difficult decisions,” explains Lt.-Colonel John Murrayterritorial secretary of communications. A recent survey conducted by the Salvation Army found that one in four parents are reducing their food intake so that their children or a family member can get enough to eat. Across the country, people are having to make impossible choices. Thanks to generous donors, friends of the organization and partners like Walmart Canada, the Salvation Army is able to meet the needs of vulnerable people and give them hope. »

Since 2007, Walmart Canada and its customers have donated more than $44,000,000 to the Salvation Army. A few days before Christmas, Walmart Canada has already donated more than $55,000 to the toy campaign Toy Mountain from CTV to Torontohas Ottawa and to Winnipegwhich will allow the Salvation Army to distribute toys to children in need during Christmas.

“Walmart Canada takes great pride in helping people live better lives by supporting the work of The Salvation Army every year,” says Rob Nicol, Vice President of Communications and Corporate Affairs at Walmart Canada. The Salvation Army does incredible work bringing hope and Christmas cheer to vulnerable Canadians. “Walmart Fills Our Pots Day will help fuel the generosity of donors so that The Salvation Army reaches its campaign goal in 2024.”

The Salvation Army Christmas Pot Campaign, with a national goal of $22,000,000, helps fund the programs and services the organization offers in 400 Canadian communities. Last year, more than 3,000,000 people sought help from the Salvation Army.

Donations placed in the Christmas pots are used in the communities where they were collected to offer its members assistance and hope throughout the year. The Salvation Army allows many Canadians to break the cycle of poverty and see a better future through various programs: addiction treatment, housing assistance, life skills training, emergency services and disaster relief, etc.

“Your generosity during Walmart Fills Our Pots Day will help ease the daily burdens of Canadians struggling to make ends meet,” said Lieutenant-Colonel Murray. Together, we can offer encouragement to people affected by poverty and help them overcome obstacles and achieve their goals. »
