The socialist deputy for the 4th constituency of Lyon, Sandrine Runel, “regret” the choices made by the mayor of Lyon and deplores the lack of socialist representation within the executive.
Would the environmentalist mayor of Lyon, Grégory Doucet, leave aside his socialist allies within his executive? In any case, this is what Sandrine Runel, socialist deputy for the 4th constituency of Rhône, believes. In an interview given to our colleagues at Actu Lyon, the former Solidarities deputy of the City of Lyon deplores the lack of socialist representation within the municipality, in particular in its former delegation, now shared by environmentalists Marie Alcover (in charge of Solidarity, social inclusion and access to fundamental rights) and Sophia Popoff (in charge of Emergency Accommodation).
A decision “solitaire”
“I had requested that this delegation be led by a socialist even if it was cut in two. I regret the choices made by the mayor of Lyon. I do not share them and I have not validated them elsewhere “regrets Sandrine Runel. If the member does not, however, affirm that it is a conscious choice or a “succession of unexpected events”she also considers that the decision to remove Nathalie Perrin-Gilbert last May from her position as Assistant for Culture to replace her with Audrey Henocque, also an ecologist, “cut” Grégory Doucet of part of his majority. A decision “solitary and perhaps an easy choice”she adds.
The opportunity also for the former Solidarity deputy to address the question of municipal elections in 2026. If the city councilor of Lyon has already affirmed his wish to run for a second term, the one who was already a candidate in 2020 n does not exclude this possibility either. “I will be part of the 2026 adventure, that’s for sure. In what way? The question has been asked, it is on the table and remains open. For the moment, we have not started discussions.” And to add: “If circumstances required it, yes, it would be possible to carry a list in the first round, just as it would be possible for there to be a rally in the first round.”
