TIWIZA + AMZIK (Berber Fusion) Tiwiza is an Algerian group founded in 2011, which mixes Berber music, chaâbi, rock and blues. inspired by the sounds of the Sahara and the Hoggar, with traditional instruments such as the tende, mixed with current melodies against a backdrop of electric guitars. The quartet sings mainly in Tamasheq (Tuareg language) and Arabic, and addresses social, political and identity themes, reflecting the struggles and aspirations of Berber peoples for the preservation of their culture. AmZik is basically three friends, Didine Kati, Nonor and Karim Belkadi, born in Kabylia and exiled in France, who met in the early 2000s to create music inspired by the traditional rhythms of their country. After success on social networks, they released, joined by other instrumentalists from different musical backgrounds, their first album “Asughu n Temzi”, (The cry of youth in 2016), followed by the single “Yemma-s n uɣrib », (The mother of exiles) in 2018. Their style is a melting pot of their Kabyle heritage and modern sounds, placing AmZik among the rising figures of the new scene Franco-Algerian.
