(ANS – Rome) – Fr. Stefano Martoglio, Vicar of the Rector Major, within the framework of the 2024-2025 winter plenary session of the General Council and with the favorable opinion of the other members of the Council, appointed Fr. Rubén Dario Jaramillo Duque Superior from the “Saint Pierre Claver” Province of Colombia-Bogota (COB).
Born on April 9, 1965 in Granada, Colombia, Fr. Jaramillo Duque completed his Salesian novitiate in La Ceja between 1986 and 1987 and made his first vows there on January 24, 1987. He made his perpetual vows in Bogota on the 31st. January 1993 and received priestly ordination on October 21, 1995, in his hometown.
He has been Director of various houses in the Province: the Theological Studentat of Bogota (2005-07), the work of Fusagasugá (2009-14), the “León XIII” Institute, also in Bogota (2017-18) and even at Mosquera (2018-19). Since 2019, he has returned to work at the Theological Studentat of Bogota, first as Vicar, then as Bursar, Parish Priest and finally also Director.
At the provincial level, he was Training Delegate (2019-21) and again from last February; he also worked as Delegate for the Salesian Family (2021-22), as Specific Delegate for the Salesian Cooperators (2024-ongoing) and, since June 2023, he is also Provincial Vicar.
Fr. Rubén Dario Jaramillo Duque will succeed Fr. John Jairo Gómez Rúa, who has led the COB Province since July 28, 2019.
