In a few weeks, from January 1, 2025the low emissions-mobility zone (ZFE-m) will come into force in the metropolis of Greater Nancy, in Meurthe-et-Moselle.
Thus, from new panels are installed in the four corners of the city, at the entrance to the different municipalities. Here’s what you need to know.
Only for professional vehicles in 2025
If the large sign with a red circle is the most visible, it is the small one just below which remains the most relevant. It indicates the vehicles, according to their Crit’Air sticker and their categorieswho can enter this ZFE-m.
From January 1, 2025, the traffic ban will only concern professionals rolling with heavy goods vehicles and Crit’Air 5 or unclassified utility vehicles.
In other words, this concerns:
- heavyweights over 18 years old;
- buses and coaches over 18 years old;
- diesel utility vehicles over 24 years old;
- petrol utility vehicles over 27 years old.
The ban on movement in the ZFE-m concerns few people. This is 9% of heavy goods vehicles and around 1% of utility vehicles among professionals. The goal is not to be repressive but to support them with help so that they change their vehicles.
Axes not affected by the ZFE-m
This ZFE-m will be permanente within the municipalities of Greater Nancy. Traffic will be prohibited for the vehicles mentioned 24/7.
However, they will still be able to use certain routes crossing the urban area which are not affected by the regulations: A31, A33, A330, M674, M83, M400A and the access routes to park and ride parks.
A ban on cars in 2028
If you are a particularthe ZFE-m will only concern you from January 1, 2028 but only if you ride with a Crit’Air 5 or unclassified car.
The traffic ban will only concern diesel vehicles over 27 years old, gasoline vehicles over 31 years old and motorized two-wheelers over 23 years old.
The objective of these measures is toimprove air quality. “If the regulatory pollution thresholds are generally respected in our territory, the concentrations of pollutants remain higher than the levels recommended by the World Health Organization,” specifies the Metropolis.
