The president-elect added more Wednesday morning by calling making Canada the 51st an “excellent idea.”e American State, in a publication on Truth Social.
“Regardless of their opinion of the Prime Minister or their political allegiance, Canadians should be deeply shocked by President Trump’s comments,” Mr. Charest wrote in a post on his X account.
According to him, this situation should serve as a lever so that Canada shows the whole world that it will not allow itself to be trampled on.
“One day, we will thank him for giving us such an ELECTROSHOCK,” adds the former leader of the Liberal Party of Quebec. For too long we have been complacent with the United States and the rest of the world. We must come together and seize this historic opportunity to freely determine the future of Canada.”
This is not the first time that Mr. Charest has spoken out on this issue.
Following the publication of a photo of Donald Trump on top of a mountain with the Canadian flag, he advised him against moving forward with this idea.
“If I were President Trump, I would think twice before invading Canada. The last time the United States tried such a thing — during the War of 1812 — it didn’t end very well, he wrote about X. Canada even burned down the White House.
