Communication and dynamism, the credo of a BCNM in full rebound in Narbonne

The time has come for change at the Basket Club Méditerranée, change of leaders and strategy around the life of this small business “which takes a lot of time and energy”.

Born in 2008, the Basket Club Narbonne Méditerranée made a new shift last June. It has in fact renewed its steering committee, and put several women at its head. Starting with Nadia Sadni, its president. But we also find Mélissa Maurel as vice-president (alongside the only man in the office, Yoann Chapin), Dominique Magadoux in the secretariat and Nadia Castellarnau as treasurer. “It seemed to us that a change was essential, to rejuvenate the management team, around the veterans, true pillars of the BCNM, and to breathe new life into the club”explains Nadia Sadni, who was secretary for several years. “You have to live with the times and we rely a lot on communication via social networks”she continues, together with Mélissa Maurel. This female management team, aware of the importance of modern communication, has intensified its efforts to be active on Instagram and Facebook (the club now also has a website on www.basketclubnarbonne.com). “All the results of the weekend appear there, as well as the report of our eventsdetail the two women. This helps energize club life and further involve parents, some of whom join the ranks of our volunteers.”

“Basket enthusiasts” celebrated

Volunteers who until then tended to decrease and who were honored on December 7, in the heart of the Maraussan gymnasium, stronghold of the club, in connection with volunteer day and as part of the operation ” basket enthusiasts” set up by the league. During this great evening on the 7th, the first of the three senior men’s teams of the BCNM, which plays in the Regional, dominated Pézenas and occupies the provisional first place in its group. At the end of the return matches, the “orange and black” could thus compete in the play-offs against the two best from each of the three groups of this championship. The stated objective of Captain Cyril Magadoux’s men, pillar of the hard core of veterans reinforced by promising U18s: the rise to the Pre-National. Under the leadership of the very invested Pascal Delaliaux, ex-pro women’s basketball coach, present at the club for four years, this team is professionalizing and becoming more and more efficient. In its wake, a team is evolving in the Pre-region and another in the Departmental.

A club where the “DNA of Narbonnais basketball” is expressed

Three senior men’s teams, which contrasts with the absence of senior women’s teams for two seasons. The objective of moving up to Nationale 3 had in fact aborted due to lack of a coach and the team had broken up. Fortunately, the BCNM, which has men’s and women’s teams in all youth categories (and where a micro basketball section will be created for 3-5 year olds next season) has in its ranks U 18s who will play next year at the door of the seniors as is already the case among the boys where there are two U 18 teams including one in the regional championship. “The next generation is here”rejoices President Nadia Sadni, proud to see her BCNM convey strong values, “belonging to the club, conviviality, family spirit, in short the DNA of Narbonne basketball”. Also proud to see the club, which employs three BPJEPS and two civic contracts, supporting its flock in their lives as citizens, to see the club still fully participate in the sporting and societal life of Narbonne. With 300 souls (and still it refuses people for lack of slots and sufficient coaches), the BCNM has for example helped the League against cancer and collected toys for Narbonne Solidaire. In 2025, it will co-organize a lottery with the handball and volleyball clubs (February), it will set up its first cabaret evening for its licensees and their families (1is March), he will also organize, during Women’s Day, a trip to the Lattes – pro match (March 9). Finally, its big tournament (60 teams and 1,500 people from all over expected on June 7 and 8), the Ginette-Mazel tournament will celebrate its 20th anniversary.
