The Multiplast shipyard in is experiencing a growth phase, supported in particular by composite sail projects for liners and cargo ships. The Carboman group company thus delivered rigid sails to Chantiers de l’Atlantique, rigging for the future ro-ro cargo ship manufactured in Türkiye; and will deliver three sets of sails for the fall of 2025 for the Orient Express Corinthian, the future luxury liner of the Accor group…

An increase in the order book which should lead Multiplast to acquire an additional hall of 1,000 m² to be able to increase production rates. Work should start in 2025 on land located behind the site, on the other side of rue Gilles Gahinet.

Growth that pushes Multiplast to constantly recruit: 12 people will be there in 2025. “In 2026, the Vannes site could have 130 people compared to 118 today, 95 two years ago and 49 in 2010. We are looking for candidates hardworking, meticulous, with manual skills and knowing how to work in a team,” says Yann Penfornis, general manager. An opportunity for Michelin employees whose factory is due to close at the end of 2025! “We are in contact with Michelin in Vannes and the reclassification firms,” explains Yann Penfornis.

Already the Vendée Globe 2028

As offshore racing is the backbone of Multiplast’s workload, the shipyard is constantly working on projects for large sailing ships and “Formula 1” of the seas. While the 2024 Vendée Globe has not been completed, the company is already in the starting blocks for the 2028 edition with three projects in the pipeline including the future Imoca from DMG Mori. The molds arrive in three weeks.

Still in the maritime sector, Multiplast recently delivered Jaric, an 18 meter motorboat, to Jacky Setton. The Franco-American businessman, former president of Pionner , owns around ten boats, six of which were built by Multiplast.

The industry with domes and radomes

Since the beginning of the 2000s, Multiplast has become a specialist in radomes, with around fifty projects. A field that is still growing with projects for Thales, just like space with the manufacture of rocket fairings for a German company based in Munich.

In the wake of the domes of the Orthodox cathedral of , Multiplast began creating a dome for the Valberg planetarium, a winter sports resort north of . This monumental structure will be made up of 16 composite petals 12 meters long and covered in palladium. Delivery will require XXL logistics: the petals do not pass through the tunnels, the last kilometer will be done by helicopter.
