Lhe reception room of the Yacht-Club Adour Atlantique was just large enough to accommodate the participants in the general assembly of the Association of users of the port of Brise-Lames (AUPLB). In addition to the formal chapters of such a meeting, moral report and financial report, many other subjects related to the daily life of the marina were discussed.
The port of Brise-Lames, currently owned by the Regional Council of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, will come, at the end of 2025, under the responsibility of the Basque Country Urban Community (CAPB), which already ensured its operation by delegation. Only the ownership of the building which houses Yacht Club facilities will not be transferred pending the resolution of a legal dispute. Note that the CAPB will, at the same time, become the owner of the small marina of Boucau.
“With this in mind, we met Jean-François Irigoyen, the vice-president of the Agglo in charge of mobility, ports and fishing. It seems that for the moment, projects linked to the Breakwater have been postponed,” indicated Jean-Luc Ribeyrolle, secretary of the AUPLB.
A discussion was also initiated with the municipality of Anglet concerning the cycle path which borders Avenue de l’Adour. This track passes near the porticos which provide access to the pontoons. This can lead to dangerous confrontations between cyclists and boaters or fishermen going to or from their boat. “We were told that a solution would be found,” confided Jean-Luc Ribeyrolle, “but that it falls under the jurisdiction of the Agglomeration. »
“This is an investment of 350,000 euros,” added David Amstutz, president of AUPLB. The budget exists, but the project is hampered by a legal procedure between the Agglomeration and the installer. »
The question of the searchlight, which was too dazzling, located at the entrance to the port, was also raised. “As the pontoons are poorly lit, however, you can quickly find yourself in the water,” comments David Amstutz. The issue of poor Wi-Fi at the port was also discussed. But this time, a solution seems at hand to improve the situation.
The AUPLB’s stated wish is to be recognized as a full-fledged representative of port authorities, particularly within the local committee of permanent users of recreational port facilities (Clupipp). “We want to be fully involved in the marina restructuring projects,” says Jean-Luc Ribeyrolle. We have proposals for improvements to make it a clean port. »
The AUPLB also wants to continue its initiatives concerning safety issues, after the success encountered last July, during the conference organized on safety at sea. “We propose to hold a meeting with jet-ski users to discuss the relationships with boaters,” underlined Jean-Luc Ribeyrolle.
