For the first time this December 17, 2024, Angélique Angarni-Filopon spoke about elements formerly prohibited by the Miss France committee to enter the competition: tattoos. The young woman explained that she was wearing two.
Angélique Angarni-Filopon sports two tattoos. What previously would have been an inconceivable transgression for the Miss France committee is now an object of pride. On the set of BFMTVthe young woman gave the meaning of these two little drawings.
“I have two!”
The new Miss France explained to our colleagues that she had two tattoos. The first on the left wrist, the second at the crook of the elbow, on the same arm.
The smallest is an infinity symbol, a simple drawing inspired by mathematics that she made during a trip: “I was 20 years old. I did this with my sister. We went on vacation to Miami.”
And another, more personal: the letters “In blessed”, meaning “I am blessed”in Creole, the language spoken in Martinique, with French. “It’s the song of a singer from Martinique called Meryl”explains Miss France 2025.
If Angélique Angarni-Filopon was born in Martinique, she subsequently grew up in the Paris region. Before returning to live on the island two years ago.
New rules
It is only since 2022 that candidates for the title of Miss France can wear tattoos. This is due to a relaxation of the rules following numerous controversies. The organization, long associated with a simple beauty contest, was considered stigmatizing and retrograde.
Other rules were skipped, such as the reconstructive surgery, which is now tolerated, unlike cosmetic surgery. There remains one last criterion which does not seem to want to go away: that of size. Candidates must be over 1.70 m tall, the committee indicates on its website.
