To mark the end of year celebrations, the Saint-Denis town hall is organizing “Christmas is in Saint-Denis”. This Monday, December 16, 2024, the deputy mayor, Yassine Mangrolia, unveiled the program. Markets and parades will take place from Wednesday December 18 to Tuesday December 31, 2024 in the streets of the city center. The objective of this event is to offer a “friendly” moment to the people of Reunion through various activities and entertainment. (Photo: www.imazpress.com)
“Christmas is in Saint-Denis. There are a lot of reasons to come and attend this event as well as to shop there,” says Yassine Mangrolia.
With nearly 800 businesses available to Dionysians, “this edition promises to be friendly,” adds the delegate for economic and tourist development.
The deputy mayor informs that the implementation of “open hours in all businesses will allow as many people as possible to make their purchases in complete peace of mind”.
– A festive Christmas in the streets of Saint-Denis –
A few days before Christmas, Saint-Denis is organizing commercial events throughout the city center for this end-of-year period.
The programming was implemented with the help of various partners and actors such as the Union of Dionysian Traders, CCI Réunion, La Poste, G ladale, Kenza, Citroën and many others.
“Our city center is not just a pedestrian street, but it is the entire city” explains the deputy mayor, Yassine Mangrolia, mentioning the Barachois, the cathedral square, the pedestrian square as well as as rue Maréchal Leclerc as a living space to host events as well as Christmas markets.
On the program:
– Christmas markets
– A Christmas parade
– A large choir
– A craft market
– A nighttime festivity
– 1st edition of the BBQ party
– Concert
– Competition games
– Animations
– Places not always easy to access –
Who says end of year, says last purchases to be made, but it is not necessarily easy to move through the streets of Saint-Denis, renowned for its traffic jams and its lack of places to enjoy the holidays. The city of Saint-Denis then decided to provide solutions.
“We have opened two car parks, one of which is located at the bottom of rue Maréchal Leclerc as well as the sinners car park which still has 150 spaces” declares Yassine Mangrolia. He continues by announcing that: “throughout the evenings, the car parks will remain open in order to welcome visitors throughout the event”.
He also notes “a priority to offer motorists the possibility of parking, but also to free up the roads by providing bus shuttles for citizens who will be on foot”.
