A disturbing discovery made by children in the Pointe-au-Père area, in Rimouski, mobilized police on Sunday afternoon. According to our information, these young people came across a firearm by chance.

The Sûreté du Québec indicates that an investigation has been opened.

The police force specifies, however, that it is too early to establish a link between the element of investigation seized on rue des Mouettes and the homicide that occurred last month in the Saint-Robert district. The same evening, police were called to a residence on Avenue des Goélands, near where the weapon was allegedly found.

Furthermore, no one has yet been apprehended by the police in this case.

Parents informed

For its part, the School Service Center (CSS) of Phares sent a letter to the parents of Rose-des-Vents primary school, in Pointe-au-Père, to inform them of a special situation involving students occurred at the end of the week outside the school grounds et requiring police intervention.

Interventions have already been carried out with the students concerned in order to support themwrites the director of the school.
