A retiree forgets to declare his Livret A and must now live on 680 euros per month

A retiree who forgot to declare his Livret A must now live on only 680 euros every month.

It’s a simple oversight that costs a retiree dearly. The latter did not declare his Livret A and must now live on only 680 euros per month. One thing is certain, it is very difficult situation he must face.

He loses the Aspa because of his Livret A

Our colleagues from BFMTV reported the story of Roland Fernandez, a resident of Hautes-Alpes. The latter must survive every month on the small sum of 680 euros. But that’s not all.

He is also experiencing a complicated financial situation due to the suspension of the solidarity allowance for the elderly that he previously received. He received around 500 euros every month.

The media explained that he found himself in this situation following the discovery of a Livret A that he had not declared. And this, even though the regulations require it. Between 2018 and 2023, Roland Fernandez would have received 6,000 euros in allowance that he was not supposed to receive, according to the Retirement and Occupational Health Insurance Fund.

He should not have received this money because of his Livret A. In fact, the latter contained several thousand euros. However, this savings is taken into account in the calculation of rights for Aspa. This omission then led to the suspension of the allowance.

“It’s hard to find yourself like this”

Worse still, the retiree must repay this sum to the tune of 60 euros per month. The situation therefore continues to worsen for him. Especially since the retiree claims that it was an oversight on his part. He assures that it was not intentional.

Furthermore, he explained that the money in this Livret A was not intended for his personal needs, but for the education of his two children. “Carsat considers that with the money from my Livret A, I could live while this money is already gone for my kids« he admitted to the media.

This drastic reduction in his income forced Roland Fernandez to consider solutions to meet his needs. Despite his age, he plans to return to paid activity in order to increase one’s resources.

The retiree, who has already used aid such as that of Secours populaire, however refuses to go there again, out of a feeling of shame. “It’s hard to find yourself like this after I’ve worked all my life”he confided.

“I am a brave one”

Faced with this situation, his daughter offered to accommodate him if he could no longer afford his rent. However, Roland Fernandez, driven by a desire to remain autonomous, prefers to face the difficulties by himself.

“I am a courageous person, when I have to go there is no choice« admitted the retiree who lost everything because of his Livret A. As a reminder, Aspa beneficiaries are subject to strict declaration obligations.

And that goes for their income and savings. An oversight, even unintentional, can have serious financial consequences. The situation of the retiree clearly proves this. Aspa is aimed at retirees with low resources.

This device is essential for thousands of people in . On the other hand, forgetting to declare a Livret A can be very expensive. From now on, Roland Fernandez cannot no longer benefit from this assistance to be able to live decently.

The latter can still count on his family to help him get through this period.
