For the holidays, Poitiers and Châtellerault are thinking big! Here are some events not to be missed under any circumstances.
Local Christmas markets
Impossible to miss, the holiday atmosphere is everywhere! And in particular on the Leclerc and Charles-de-Gaulle squares in Poitiers as well as François-Mitterrand and Emile-Zola in Châtellerault, where the Christmas markets have taken place. Around forty chalets for one, thirteen for the other but a common objective: to promote local know-how. An ideal space to find original gifts and enjoy yourself. The chalets will remain until December 24 on the Châtellerault market and until December 31 in Poitiers.
Always more attractions
Like every year, the tranquility of the Blossac park in Poitiers has given way to the traditional funfair to the delight of young and old alike. The rides and the smell of hot churros reign from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday during school periods and from Monday to Sunday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. during the holidays until ‘until January 5. In Châtellerault, little visitors can also enjoy attractions such as the unmissable Carrousel 1900, the Mickey carousel, duck fishing, carriage rides or even new features such as the Magic Tree and the Petit Huit, again up to ‘until January 5 in the Christmas Village.
Magnificent shows and entertainment
Until the end of the month, Poitevin residents will be able to attend nearly fifty shows and events. Among them, The electric gramophone, a funky musical stroll by the company Loco Live but also Unexpectedlya vertical dance show by the In Fine company on… the facade of town hall. These artists will amaze the curious on Friday. The most daring will be able to compete in a game of laser game on Place Charles-de-Gaulle on December 29. In Châtellerault, the big Christmas show in the streets of the city center has given way to several small productions every weekend. Thus, the Jacqueline Cambouis brass band will perform on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the city center and at 11 a.m. in Châteauneuf, just like the Bougrelas company which will offer its show Cloches, the same day, at 4 p.m., on Place Emile-Zola. Les Mains Sonnantes will take the curious on a musical journey to the Blossac theater on December 23 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. As for entertainment, snow sports enthusiasts will be able to enjoy the La Forge ice rink for free and attend Ice Cross demonstrations on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. Without forgetting Santa Claus who will use his gift of ubiquity to meet young Poitevin residents on December 18, 21, 22 and 24 and Châtelleraudais on December 21 and 22.
