A teacher from Moselle filed a complaint for having been threatened with death by a parent of a student, theAFP Wednesday December 11, 2024 from police sources and from the rectorate. The teacher worked at the Jean-Victor-Poncelet high school in Saint-Avold, which has 1,500 students. Neither the rectorate nor the establishment specified what subject the teacher taught, nor what class the student was in.
No problems linked to secularism according to the rectorate
“After reprimanding a student because of his behavior and his lack of work in class, a teacher was threatened by this student’s father,” specifies the Nancy-Metz rectorate. “The student concerned is experiencing relational difficulties with his teachers, and demonstrates inappropriate behavior in class. His father did not accept the admonitions addressed to his child and overreacted, which led to threatening remarks against the teacher,” continues the rectorate. He also specifies that these threats “were uttered in circumstances not relating to an issue of secularism”.
The student's father first questioned the legitimacy of the teacher in a threatening email sent to the principal, according to a police source. Redirected to the principal education advisor (CPE) of the establishment, the father declared: “I'm going to grab him and beat his head off. With teachers like that, it should come as no surprise that there are Samuel Patys! » A history and geography teacher in a high school in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine (Yvelines), the latter was killed in October 2020 by a radicalized young man, after showing caricatures of the Prophet Mohammed to his students.
