The Royan society film festival (Charente-Maritime) was held between December 3 and 8. At the end of the five days of the festival, the jury delivered its verdict. For this 2024 edition, the jury was chaired by the dancer and actress Andrea Bescond and composed of Michaël Cohen (actor and writer), Jean-Marie Dura (film specialist), Malou Khebizi (actress) and Morgan Simon (director).
After viewing all of the following films, the jury rendered its verdict. Eight films were in official competition:
- Life first by Francesca Comencini
- The fourth wall the David Oelhoffen
- My inseparable d’Anne-Sophie Oelhoffen
- The thief magpie by Robert Guédiguian
- Attachment by Carine Tardieu
- Mikado de Baya Kasmi
- Le Mohican by Frédéric Farrucci
- The Wall the Philippe van Leeuw
It was ultimately the film The Mohican by Frédéric Farrucci which won the best film prize. In this thriller, we follow a shepherd from the Corsican coast who fights against the mafia in order to save his land.
“The Fourth Wall” wins the audience award
As for the audience's favorite prize, it was the film “The Fourth Wall”, directed by David Oelhoffen, which won the prize.
This film takes place in Lebanon in the early 1980s. We follow Georges who wishes to stage the play Antigone in Beirut in order to steal a moment of peace in the heart of a fratricidal conflict.
