A 17-year-old teenager was found guilty of attempted murder by the Juvenile Assize Court, in , Monday December 9 and Tuesday December 10, 2024. The accused being a minor, the trial took place behind closed doors .

The scene took place on the afternoon of Monday February 27, 2023 at the Val-de-Vire college, in Vire (Calvados). Then aged 16, the teenager entered the premises of the establishment and stabbed a 13-year-old schoolboy. The victim was injured.

Sentenced to five years in prison

This former college student was arrested by the police and taken into police custody after being restrained by a teacher. According to a source close to the case, he would have had “the desire to kill” the victim as part of a relationship with another teenage girl to whom the suspect and the 13-year-old schoolboy were close. According to experts, his discernment was impaired.

The teenager was sentenced to five years in prison, with a warrant of committal. In pre-trial detention for a little over a year, he therefore remains in prison. He will also have to fulfill a four-year socio-judicial follow-up, a care and work injunction and is prohibited from coming into contact with the victim.
