During this event, an assessment of the implementation of the 2014-2020 European funds as well as the progress of the new 2021-2027 European programs was carried out.
The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) 2014/2020 was the most important program (ERDF) in France. Applied between 2014 and 2023, it enabled the regional authority, as managing authority, to support more than 2,000 projects for a total amount of more than 1.6 billion euros.
In 2021, Reunion Island also benefited from 340 million euros from REACT EU, to deal with the consequences of the health crisis. Thanks to effective management of community services, 100% of the program model was achieved, allowing this period to be successfully completed.
Representatives of the European Commission praised the responsiveness of the Region's services, the management authority for European funds, and the ability of Reunion to have been able to use them correctly.
Huguette Bello, President of the Region: “With a decline in the State's financial commitments, illustrated in particular by management of the recovery fund without a territorial assessment, we are extremely vigilant to guarantee the maintenance of European aid for the cohesion of our territory. This subject is at the center of the discussions we are having with our colleagues from the regions of France and the outermost regions.“
