Merchants are urged to be vigilant regarding counterfeit notes. Thursday December 5, 2024, men entered several businesses in Cormeilles and Épaignes, in Eure, and gave €50 notes as payment which turned out to be false.

At least two individuals, who entered the targeted businesses alone, were spotted. These are young people aged around twenty. “They buy low value items and pay with counterfeit notes,” specifies the commander of the Pont-Audemer brigade company, Olivier Seynaeve. Because the money given to them is very real.

“Relatively well done”

The same facts have been reported in other places in , indicates the gendarme. The community of brigades of Saint-Georges-du-Vièvre urged caution:

Be careful when purchasing with a €50 note. These banknotes are relatively well made, only the quality of the paper allows for counterfeiting.
