While the cultural sector expects a significant drop, or even the elimination of numerous subsidies, Marie-Claire Martel president of the Coordination of federations and associations of culture and communication (Cofac) relayed the anxiety felt by the associations facing competition between professionals and amateurs to access subsidies. “Culture in our country is based on a very important associative fabric. For example, 75% of musical training comes from amateur circles and not from conservatories. Overall, we are talking about 200,000 jobs,” she recalled, during the Cofac meetings held at the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESE) on December 6.
