Andorra is experiencing a remarkable tourist boom with a significant increase in visitor numbers. For the new season, the principality continues to improve its services. For the 2023-2024 winter season, the country records more than 616,000 visitors, including 89% tourists, compared to only 289,461 visitors (79% tourists) during the 2013-2014 winter. The principality enriches its gastronomic offer with 14 restaurants distinguished by three Michelin stars, 18 establishments with two Repsol suns, and 29 restaurants with one Michelin star. Several high-altitude restaurants are also innovating: Kokoi is expanding its terrace, La Coma is launching a program of themed evening dinners, while Planells is installing a barbecue for hamburgers and sausages. Hortell, for its part, is creating a new self-service point for groups. International tourism increases by 14.5% compared to 2023, notably thanks to British, Portuguese, Dutch and Algerian visitors. These tourists tend to extend their stays, with a 13% increase in overnight stays compared to winter 2013-2014.
Prestigious eventsTo enrich its tourist offering, the principality is banking on prestigious events. The Shop in Andorra Festival promises to be a highlight with the presence of Dimas Gimeno during the first Forum of Shopping Experts. The sports calendar is also rich with the Ski Touring World Cup (January 24-26), the Borrufa Trophy (January 27-30), and the Men's Alpine Ski World Cup (February 3-4). The Hibernation festival, which attracted 10,000 people in 2023, will be held from March 14 to 16. The Andorran ski area is expected to reach 2.2 million ski days for the 2023-2024 season. The country is also banking on diversification with Caldea, the largest thermal center in southern Europe, which offers tickets from €80 and is planning the opening of a boutique hotel. Naturland completes the offer with its family adventure park bringing together three resorts under a single package. National Geographic will contribute to the international influence of the destination by producing two documentaries, while tourist development continues, particularly in the Madriu-Perafita-Claror Valley and the Vall d'Ordino.
