The JDD. What effect is censorship likely to have on the SME and VSE sector?
François Asselin. The economy is always based on trust, made up of stability, visibility and readability. We have just lost all three: stability, visibility, readability. What does this entail? The investments that were supposed to be made are not being made, the planned hiring is postponed. During this time, activity is slowly reducing, order books are being emptied. It's catastrophic. The first victims will be SMEs and VSEs. For what ? Because few of them have a globalized activity; they therefore depend on the stability of their environment. When some people gloat about playing politics, they are playing with the life of our businesses.
Marine Le Pen justifies her choice of censorship to protect the French from 40 billion additional charges. What do you answer him?
The same thing as at the NFP! That all this lacks coherence. Entrepreneurs are part of “the French”. They are the ones who, through their risk-taking, provide work and create wealth. Weakening them amounts to weakening households without protecting the electorate. I add that with a debt of 3,226 billion euros, proposing to reconsider pension reform without knowing how to finance them otherwise does not contribute to “protecting the country” but to weakening it. And, strangely, no one complained that this draft budget essentially included increases in revenue but almost no cuts in public spending.
If we look for an advantage in the cancellation of the budget, the reductions in charges on low salaries are maintained…

At the CPME, we will always fight to avoid increases in labor costs to preserve the competitiveness of our companies. However, what we managed to obtain in the draft budget carried by Michel Barnier was a very favorable decision for SMEs, namely that up to 2.25 SMIC, no additional charge would increase the cost of the work. Who tells us that the next budget will preserve this achievement?
“A reform of public action is essential for the country”
There remains the question of the deficit, everyone must make efforts or sacrifices…
Whether it is a question of arbitrating between retirees, businesses, civil servants, employees, it will remain complicated. But what, on the other hand, is essential for the country is a global reform of public action. And on this point, good luck to those who will carry it, because we will have to get down to it. Whether you are on the right or on the left, it will have to be done, otherwise the country will collapse.
The President of the Republic wanted to be reassuring. There is no surge in interest rates at this stage. Aren't you being too catastrophist?
The euro has not collapsed against the dollar, it's true. For now, the markets are holding. But we are subject to a slow poison. If, in a month, nothing happens, France's debt will be more difficult to invest than today. In two months it will be worse, and so on. Is it catastrophic to describe this situation? The French will quickly realize this. Anyone with borrowing plans risks finding themselves facing rising rates in a global environment of falling rates. This is paradoxical and is due to France's growing economic fragility. I prefer to warn of disaster before it occurs. We must react now. And don't tell yourself that it only happens to other people!
