For lovers of the noble art, it is in Creuse, in Guéret, at the Espace Fayolle precisely, that you will have to be this Saturday, December 7, 2024. A day of total boxing, from 1:30 p.m. to midnight, with demonstrations , but above all, the finals of the Nouvelle Aquitaine championship.
With its 130 licensees and four coaches, the Guéret-Creuse Boxing Academy is one, if not the Tom Thumb, of the New Aquitaine league. The club has been promoting and supporting boxing in the Creuse capital for almost forty years, particularly among young people. And the organization of these finals is precisely the reward for the work accomplished, and not a challenge to take on to better exist.
“We have nothing to prove, we know us. It is the work that the club has been doing for four decades in Guéret which allows it today to have the confidence of the institutions, and above all, of the French Boxing Federation “.
On the eve of these championships, Halis Aydin, the president of the Academy, is very proud, and rightly so. “Spectators will be able to encourage our boxers, our locals. But they will also be able to see high-level boxing, with competitors aiming for the title of French champion, and even, for some, the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles!”

The day promises to be plentiful, and the weight plateau! A first part, from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., will allow you to see several meetings on the sidelines of the event, with young hopefuls from the club, such as Enzo Moreau la Rosa, 20 years old, or Curtis Ritz, 16 years old. Assault educational boxing fights, where technique and precision prevail over power, will also be offered.
Then, from 6 p.m. and until midnight, it's time for the finals: 17 fights, in more than ten categories, thirty-four elite senior fighters in total, men and women, from all over New Aquitaine. With, as Halis Aydin pointed out, “France” in the objective and for some, the Olympics in the viewfinder.
Enough to feast on boxing for amateurs. And to dream of, soon, finding themselves in the Guérétois ring, or elsewhere, to fight in similar finals for the young people of the club. Young people who, like Curtiz, have already understood everything about the philosophy of noble art: “You know, I find that we become more mature thanks to this sport. It made me mature, grow up, we are better disciplined. It shows us a future. We take hits, we give some… Just like in life!”
