Two demonstrations took place Thursday, December 5 in Tarn as part of the national mobilization announced by the unions. Between 700 and 800 demonstrators met in Albi and nearly 500 in Castres.
The day after the motion of censure passed in the National Assembly, causing the de facto resignation of the Barnier government, the Tarn inter-union (CFDT, CFE-CGC, CGT, FO, FSU, Solidaires and Unsa) mobilized its troops in two processions. This Thursday, November 5, between 300 and 500 demonstrators strolled through the streets of Castres before a second gathering in Albi where between 700 and 1,200 demonstrators (the latter figure being that announced by the unions) were counted.
At the heart of the demands of this day of national mobilization, the defense of public services, particularly in rural areas, the rise in wages in the face of inflation and the decline in purchasing power or even the fight against the inequalities they be social or territorial. Retirees were also mobilized (a first demonstration took place on December 3 in Albi) to demand the revaluation of retirement pensions and indexation to inflation from December 1is January but also a bonus to make up for the loss of purchasing power.
Nationally, 31.32% of teachers were on strike, according to figures given by the Ministry of National Education.
At the end of the afternoon, the CGT announced a total of 200,000 demonstrators in France in the 160 demonstrations declared, including 30,000 demonstrators in Paris. The authorities' figures were 130,000 demonstrators in France, including 3,000 in Paris. In Toulouse, 6,000 demonstrators took to the streets this afternoon, according to the authorities.
