Eleven years after his last epic completed in 16e final against Monaco (0-3), GOAL FC will not return to this stage of the Coupe de France, and the disappointment was read throughout the Ludovic-Giuly stadium in view of the epilogue: while the resident of N2 was going to push FC Annecy to penalties with courage and seriousness, having created the most situation for himself, he cracked at the worst moment: on the breakthrough to the left of Djoco's last chance, Nathan Tanard, if valuable on the Chasseloise equalizer, unfortunately took the center back into his cage under pressure. The worst possible epilogue.
Bennekrouf equalized after the break
On the very complicated pitch of Chasselay, heavy and not conducive to big flights in the game, de facto leveling the difference in level at the expense of the 5e from L2, the battle was bitter and total. Arranged in 5-3-2 with Dufau in the central hinge, GOAL FC first made the first incursions before being called to order. After a first shot too narrowly crossed by Dago (20e), FC Annecy converted quickly. After Marsella's first save, Demoncy opened the scoring from the consecutive corner by finding Drouhin, launched at the near post (32e).
Also came close to equalizing from a corner before the break, with a corner crossing the area to the head just above Zerfaoui (37e), GOAL FC picked up from the start. Tanard pulled away on the left and delivered a marvelous cross for Bennekrouf, impeccable with his cross header (53e). One of the rare situations of a second act in the trenches, which we thought would be punctuated by penalties. Before this end, a source of immense regret.
