Hunters, former hunters, sport shooters and other holders of unlicensed firearms in Calvados (inherited and found weapons) are concerned. The prefecture of the department reminds that they are obliged to declare themselves as holders of firearms before Tuesday December 31, 2024.

Administrative measures incurred
These owners must create an account on the digital platform of the Weapons Information System (SIA). They can also be received, by appointment only, at the Huet digital reception point of the Calvados prefecture, on 02 31 30 64 81.
In the event of difficulties, declarants can contact the Departmental Federation of Hunters of Calvados, a shooting club or a gun shop, to obtain help in their efforts.
“Beyond this date, holders, whether hunters, former hunters and unlisted sports shooters, will be likely to be subject to administrative measures”recalls the Calvados prefecture in a press release. Any person who does not declare a category C weapon risks a sentence of 2 years in prison and a fine of up to €30,000.
