Union Saint-Gilloise meritoriously qualified for the quarter-finals of the Belgian Cup after their victory (3-2) against La Gantoise.
In good momentum for several weeks, Union Saint-Gilloise hosted La Gantoise this Wednesday evening in the round of 16 of the Belgian Cup.
The people of Brussels started the match well and took control of the game quite quickly. Bufalwho is gaining strength, rolls in a beautiful shot which misses the goal (4th).
Dominated, La Gantoise nevertheless created the first big opportunity of the match. You die must save in front Gandelman (8e).
The Union goes ahead, manages well, but…
After this opportunity, there is practically nothing left for the Union. The locals took advantage of this to open the score, with a perfect service of Fusein who finds Promise David in the rectangle (1-0, 13th).
The great Union striker came close to doubling the lead a few minutes later, but completely missed his dribble in front Schmidt (20e).
The Ghent goalkeeper must then save the furniture and make a magnificent save in front of Fuseini (29th). On the other side, Moris intervenes well in front of Gandelman (30th).
Fairly dominant, the Union nevertheless conceded the equalizing goal at the end of the first half. Brightly found by Sonko, Dean deceives Moris with a nice cross shot (1-1, 43rd).

Despite this equalizer which came a bit out of nowhere, the Union started again at the start of the second half and managed to regain the lead.
Fusein takes advantage of the generosity of the Ghent defense, dribbles past Schmidt and has plenty of time to place in the empty goal (2-1, 48th). The Unionist striker then misses in front of the Japanese goalkeeper…before offering the 3-1 to David a few minutes later (3-1, 58th).

La Gantoise, however, has not said its last word. On a superb free kick, Delorge pushes Moris to tap (61st).
The Union goalkeeper must, however, look back at the next action, with Gandelman taking a corner far too easily (3-2, 62nd).
We imagine that the end of the match will be complicated for the Union, and yet… La Gantoise will hardly have another opportunity and will collect yellow cards.
Rodriguez, mounted during the game, even allowed himself to miss the 4-2 at the very end of the match. The Union deserves its qualification and continues its march forward. La Gantoise and its coach Wouter Vrancken have something to worry about…
