Solidarity has never been so palpable at IFME. In response to the tragedy that occurred on the night of November 27 to 28, where six refrigerated trucks from the Banque Alimentaire du were destroyed in an arson, the Nîmes establishment decided to act.

Aware of the urgency of the situation, Yannick Moureau, director of IFME (Institut de Formation aux Métiers Educatifs) and Olivier Jeanne, president of APAFASE (Association for the Promotion of Training Actions and Social Activities). Educatives), the managing association of IFME, quickly decided to support the Banque Alimentaire du Gard.

This Tuesday, December 3, Olivier Jeanne presented a donation of €5,000 to Joseph Pronesti, on behalf of APAFASE. “I would like to thank the Director of IFME, the President, as well as the entire APAFASE Board of Directors for their constant support. The IFME students who participated in the collection did so in solidarity for their comrades, users of the IFME solidarity grocery store. You have been able to instill this spirit of solidarity in your students. Furthermore, I also thank the IFME students who responded to the sale of raffle tickets which will take place on Wednesday December 10 at Parnasse,” declared Joseph Pronesti, moved by the solidarity chain which was launched. place quickly.

A call for mobilization

While thirteen intercommunalities of Gard have already committed to providing financial assistance of €100,000and personalities have shown their support, the Food Bank continues to mobilize the population. A call for donations has been launched to compensate for losses estimated at nearly €500,000 and allow the association to continue its missions, particularly as the holidays approach. This tragedy, although devastating, reveals an exceptional chain of solidarity, where citizens, institutions and associations come together to stand together. Together, they remind us that in the face of hardship, it is mutual aid that builds a fairer future.

A united partnership in action

Since 2022, IFME and the Banque Alimentaire du Gard have been working closely together. Everything was born from a meeting between Yannick Moureau, director of IFME, and Joseph Pronesti, president of the Food Bank. From this exchange a strong idea emerged: create a solidarity grocery store within the IFME to support students in precarious situations. This project, now co-managed by volunteers from the Food Bank, is a real success, embodying solidarity on a daily basis.
