Socra, a company based in Marsac-sur-l'Isle, participated in the rehabilitation work on Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris.
It is a company that has been there since the start of the Notre-Dame de Paris rehabilitation project. Even before, in fact. Socra, based in Marsac-sur-l'Isle, in Dordogne, has been working there since 2018, when it obtained the contract to restore the copper statues of the spire. Statues of apostles “which arrived on Friday. Three days before the fire”says the general director of Socra, Richard Boyer.
Logically, Socra continued to work on the restoration of the cathedral “the most famous in the world” according to its director. “We participated in lots of test sites, to put in place the restoration protocols. We were the agent of a group which was responsible for the decontamination of the interior facings of the facade. And then, as part of calls for tenders, we worked on the restoration of sculptures, restoration site of sculptures and new sculptures, restoration site of the floors and in particular the marble marquetry of the heart of the cathedral.”
Richard Boyer will be present at the inauguration ceremonies of Notre-Dame de Paris this weekend. Obviously with “a lot of emotions. I was in charge of the Parisian agency at the time and I was on site the day after the fire. We invested a lot, all our teams were involved in the phase of security and then in the construction phase. Being able to attend this inauguration and the mass on Sunday is a sort of achievement. I will attend these ceremonies with a lot of emotion.
