It is a complex operation for the village with narrow streets.
A mobile crane interrupted traffic on Wednesday November 27, 2024 on departmental road 913 which crosses the town of La Roche-Guyon (Val-d'Oise), while it took time to install two relay antennas.
“There was a first attempt at installation, but the weight of the machine had collapsed the road and pierced a drinking water pipe,”
The second operation enabled the much-awaited installation by the administration of the town of 448 inhabitants.
Zone blanche
The project to install relay antennas dates back to 2017, at the time of the new mobile deal program, intended to bridge the digital divide and ensure quality mobile network coverage across the entire territory.
La Roche-Guyon was then recognized as a white zone.
“The residents of the heart of the village did not have a mobile network on the ground floor of their homes,” underlines the councilor.
The town hall could not find a location in the town between chalk cliffs and the banks of the Seine “faced with the challenges of preserving heritage”, recalls the mayor.
A project for an antenna in the medieval keep had been mentioned, but the complex construction site eliminated this hypothesis.
The church tower could have done the job, but as it was listed as a historic monument, this possibility was immediately abandoned.
Too many constraints for one of the most beautiful villages in France.
Tourist site
Upon her arrival as mayor, Capucine Faivre requested a special commission from the Senate and the sub-prefecture of the Pontoise district.
“We cannot praise La Roche-Guyon as being the most touristy site in Val-d'Oise and leave its population in a blank zone,” she argued to relaunch the program to install a relay antenna. .
It was finally, on a proposal from the Abf (architect of buildings in France), that a location was found.
Two relay antennas were thus placed on the roof of a annex building of the children's hospital, property of the public assistance of Paris hospitals (Aphp).
Former property of the La Rochefoucauld family, sold as accommodation for the families of patients at the healthcare establishment, the building was perfectly suited to the request of the town hall.
L’mobile operator Sfrproject leader, took responsibility for the entire installation. The two relay antennas, topped with two artificial chimneys, fit into the landscape of the charming village.
