A Shopping Queen Cristina Cordula? In addition to the name of his show, the ex-model can boast of having done quite a business! Our colleagues from Le Parisien reveal that the Franco-Brazilian managed to sell on Tuesday, December 3, a good part of her collection of ceramics by creators Jacques and Dani Ruelland during an auction at the prestigious Christie's auction house. In total, there are no less than 250 ceramics that the designer has decided to part with, a collection gathered over the years with her husband, businessman Frédéric Cassin. “Collected over a decade, the sets created by the couple, sometimes in very shimmering colors, others on the contrary black and white when the designers changed style, were featured in a presentation by Cristina Cordula herself during of the exhibition held at Christie's”our colleagues clarified.
A successful auction
All the vases from the couple's collection sold for the modest sum of 937,440 euros. A rather incredible sum since Le Parisien indicates that some of the pieces were found at flea markets! Among the most remarkable pieces? “A set of five bottles and three vases from the 1960s-1970s obtained the highest bid, amounting to 44,100 euros. A Lentille vase (1970-1980) was sold for 40,320 euros, or almost four times its initial estimate”we learn. If the total collection was initially estimated at a minimum of 850,000 euros, the final price therefore far exceeds what Cristina Cordula expected.
Cristina Cordula had flair
The stylist told our colleagues that she managed to convince her husband to start this collection even though he wasn't really up for it. “They are very simple, very colorful shapes, and I like colors. My husband found them average at first, but you have to have an eye for design. I introduced him to it, he became one madly in love. We've been collecting for ten years, and finally all the periods, even those in grayer colors. We kept a few pieces that fit well in my house. others, we put them up for auction, and that’s it, eh, that's the story”detailed the one who had the flair.
