Week of December 2 to 8
During historical studies, changes are often emphasized more than permanences. Fire, an indispensable element, has caused problems for man in all eras. As in Bans, in 1894, where he ravaged Denis Boulet's house. Wrestling techniques were perfected over the centuries. The men organized themselves. And so, for this particular case, “the pumps of Mont-sous-Vaudrey, Vaudrey, Souvans, [Ounans] and Montbarrey [combattirent] vigorously fire. Thanks to the Mont-sous-Vaudrey pump, major disasters were avoided. The flames, activated by a violent wind, caused fire several times to a neighboring house; we managed to turn it off each time,” explains the anonymous author of an article published in the newspaper Le Petit Comtois December 4, 1894.
At the origin of this terrible fire, brought under control thanks to the will of firefighters, negligence. “The cause of this fire seems to be attributed to the imprudence of a child,” concludes the author of the article.
