Two residents of a nursing home in Grâne, in Drôme, aged over 85, died after ingesting dishwasher rinsing liquid, the prosecution said. Three men aged over 85, residents at the Maison des Buis nursing home, ingested this product on Saturday in circumstances which remain to be determined, told l'AFP the Valence prosecutor Laurent de Caigny.
One of them died Tuesday morning, according to the prosecution, confirming information from the Dauphiné Libéré. A first resident died in hospital on Monday, and a third is still in intensive care. A fourth resident was more lightly injured, having only put her finger in the product, according to the same source.
An investigation has been opened for injuries and manslaughter to determine whether there was negligence on the part of the establishment, a private nursing home with 48 rooms located around twenty kilometers south of Valencia. The Loriol gendarmerie is responsible for the investigation.
