The Jura Nord community of communes (CCJN) announced, Monday December 2, 2024that it will host on its territory the 2025 edition of the Jura Tour. The departure is announced for 19 avril 2025. A return to tradition for the territory's elected officials.
There has always been a cycling tradition in Jura Nord, which hosted the Jura Nord Grand Prix for many years. This faded with the health crisis, and the Tour du Jura was an opportunity to reconnect with this tradition
“As many villages as possible”
For the moment, the exact route has not been communicated. You will have to wait until 26 mars 2025 for the official presentation to Forges de Fraisans.
The route was designed in consultation with the elected officials of Jura Nord, with the aim of crossing as many villages as possible. After Fraisans, the peloton will progress on the roads of Jura Nord, before a new passage to Fraisans, to reach the summit of Mont Poupet, where the finish of the Tour du Jura will be judged for the third consecutive year, already on the verge of becoming legendary
The city of departure was therefore not given but the community of communes states in its press release that “ 80% of the municipalities of Jura Nord will be crossed. With its hilly terrain, its forest massifs, but also its open landscapes conducive to edging, the course could pose some difficulties for runners. In any case, there will be something for all profiles, climbers, punchers like
sprinters. »
Spotlight on the north
Note that in recent years, the race took place far from the northern Jura and had instead highlighted the center of the Department (Domblans-Mont Poupet in 2024, Poligny – Mont Poupet in 2023, Champagnole-Nozeroy in 2022). Something to rejoice the elected officials of the region.
Every year, the top names in international cycling, regulars of the Tour de France, hit the roads of the Jura for this extraordinary event. […]. The show will be broadcast on sports channels, including three hours live. Thousands of spectators and television viewers will be thrilled by the exploits of the runners
A happiness certainly shared by the president of the departmental council Gérôme Fassenet who, until last summer, chaired the CCJN before succeeding Champagnolais Clément Pernot at the head of the Department.
A political event certainly unrelated to this reorientation of the cycle route.
