Furniture from the Olympic Village was kindly donated to Emmaüs by the Olympic Committee. To the community of Planay in Côte-d'Or, the first pieces of furniture were made available this Wednesday, November 27.

During the competition, these tables or this pouf may have belonged to Léon Marchand, Teddy Riner or Cassandre Beaugrand. 54,000 pieces of this type, from small furniture to mattresses, were scattered throughout all the Emmaus in the country.

“People are quite satisfied because they are quite modern and new furniture, since they have very little served,” she adds. (They are) low price and little extra: we don't know whoy sits or sits at a tablethis maybe great champions.”

In the aisles of Emmaüs, many curious people come to discover the different products. Some people take the time to test before buying. A woman carefully examines a small storage unit, carefully pulling out all the drawers.

Many older clients only try with their eyes. The little blue armchairs don't seem to convince them. You have to be young and sporty to be able to get up from chairs.”observes a buyer in a pink coat and matching glasses with an amused air. “But it's nice. There are surely great athletes who have benefited from it. It's good that it's given to Emmaüs and that it gives them a little extra.”

“It’s still quite a story”marvels another buyer. “They rocked us for three weeks.”

And obviously the amounts requested for these pieces are attractive: €30 for an armchair, €20 for an ottoman… “Emmaüs prices defy all competition”confirms a white-haired lady. “We come regularly, it’s very pleasant.”

This Sunday, several pieces were still available. In Planay, as in most Emmaüs in France, furniture will continue to be delivered little by little over the next three years.
