“I estimate that on January 1, in the Grenoble area, fifteen general practitioners are leaving. Result: it will be more like 30,000 people who will find themselves without a doctor. I am not here to panic the population, but we must say things publicly, decision-makers must hear what we have been telling them for 20 years“, estimates Gilles Perrin.
Double the number of admissions to the medical competition
Among the possible solutions to resolve the crisis or mitigate it, Gilles Perrin suggests “open the doors to the medical entrance exam. We really need to open it up and double the number of positions offered“.
Furthermore, he believes that the price of the consultation must be further increased, which will increase to 30 euros on December 22. “30 euros is not a gift given to doctors, it is barely catching up with inflation, fees have barely changed for 10 years.
