Out of nearly 2,000 applications submitted, around fifty regional winners were proposed to the national jury of the national retraining trophies, in five categories: “I changed jobs”, “I created my business”, “I I retrained at the age of over 50″, “I retrained following a health problem or had a disability” and “I am a company which encourages retraining”, to which was added a special price audience.
Two of the six winners are from Tours. After a diploma in hotel marketing management, Émilie Morand began her career in a hotel in Courchevel (Savoie), where she stayed for eight years. She then changed careers to become a salesperson at Ecotel, a company specializing in supplies and equipment for professionals, restaurants, hotels, communities and catering trades. But resigns in 2022 after seven years of experience. “I wanted to start my own business. I started a home catering project,” she shares.
“Do something in the countryside”
In March 2023, she learned that the restaurant Le Petit Amiral in Saint-Aubin-le-Dépeint – “a town where I have lots of childhood memories” –, bought by the town hall, is offered for rental management. So, Émilie Morand launched herself and named her restaurant Ô Saint-Aubin. A year after opening, its forecast of twenty-two seats per day is now exceeded by 30%. She surrounded herself with Antoine, a cook and former baker, with Monique in the dining room and training Mathis as an apprentice.
But the quality of the family cuisine is only one element of the loyalty of its customers. It also highlights regional products such as organic fruit juices, honey, spices, chocolates and biscuits. And organizes evening entertainment, such as karaoke. The village once again becomes a center of attraction. “I wanted to show that we could do something in the countryside, she explains. I'm happy to get up in the morning. »
Getting back on your feet after a work accident
Another reconversion trophy was awarded to Jean-Michel Burroni, now 46 years old. A graduate of the school of historical monuments, this solid stonemason, former site manager used to the largest cathedrals and castles of the Loire (Chambord, Azay-le-Rideau), first set out to account in the south of France before returning to Touraine as an employee. Until this work accident that occurred on a construction site in 2018. “I wanted to get rid of a heavy stone by rotating my pelvis incorrectly”he remembers.
The verdict is in: it's the operation or the reconversion. “In my case, there was no reclassification possible,” explains Jean-Michel Burroni. A skills assessment reveals in him an appetite for social professions, art therapy and specialized education. His first two internships took him to educational and pedagogical therapeutic institutes with the Enfance et pluriel association. They accommodate young people with social disabilities.
To finance his training as a specialized educator over three years, Jean-Michel Burroni is putting together a file with Cap emploi. He received a refusal of training funding but after an appeal, he ended up returning to the Institute of Social Work (ITS). He arrives in Luynes in 2022, where the specialized work support establishment (Esat) Les Vallées takes him on as an apprentice. It also supports the projects of twelve young people suffering from cognitive and psychological disorders.
Graduating from ITS in July 2024, he was hired the following month by Esat des Vallées de Luynes as a specialized technical educator. “Retraining requires real commitment”, insists Jean-Michel Burroni. “It’s doable”Émilie Morand addresses those who are afraid to take the plunge. In any case, their two journeys are inspiring.
