The fall of a metal structure in the shape of a bird pulled on a float left 13 injured on Saturday evening during a Christmas parade in Trouville-sur-Mer (Calvados), emergency services told AFP, confirming reports local media information.
During this night parade “one of the tanks fell on a bend. With the slope – the metal structure was perhaps not well stabilized – the tank fell on people who were watching the show”indicated police captain Laurent, deputy head of the departmental night command.
There were hundreds of spectators for this nighttime parade and the accident took place around 7 p.m., reports West France.
“We have 13 injured in total, nine people transported to the nearest hospitals. Eleven people are in relative emergency and two people in absolute emergency but the vital prognosis is not engaged“, continued the police captain.
A man has an open fracture, he detailed. According to France 3quoting a town hall official, it is an artist who was present on the float.
