The Vergèze-Codognan Multimodal Exchange Hub (PEM) was officially inaugurated.
“This is a major step for the development of our town and our territory. An ambitious project, which marks our collective commitment to more sustainable mobility that is more respectful of our environment” rejoices the councilor of Vergèze, Pascale Fortunat-Deschamps, in the direction of the many elected officials, the prefect of Gard and the regional director of Occitanie stations, this Friday, November 29.
Who finances?
Total cost of the project: 8M€. The community of communes Communauté de Communes Rhôny Vistre Vidourle financed €4.3M, the Region €2.3M; the transport financing agency for €800,000; the prefecture for €760,000 and the Departmental Council with a subsidy of €475,507. This PEM concerns a catchment area of 80,000 inhabitants.
328 parking spaces
PEM matters 328 parking spaces on two floors, completely free, it facilitates direct pedestrian access to the station platform and provides secure parking for bicycles. The work is covered with photovoltaic panels producing renewable energy for around 300 residents, which reduces the municipality's carbon footprint.
“The PEM will make it possible to easily connect different forms of transport thanks to a bus station which will facilitate connections between buses, trains and other vehicles. Such interconnection between modes of travel will not only reduce dependence on private cars, but also encourage increased use of public transport, particularly TER trains, which are beneficial both for our daily comfort and for our planet.concludes Pascale Fortunat-Deschamps.
