The city center of Alès is adorned with a thousand lights for the happiness of all.

The municipality of Alès has put together a rich and generous program, with activities every day until December 31. Here are some highlights.

The launch of the festivities

The municipality invites all Alésiens Wednesday December 4from 5:30 p.m. on the square in front of Alès town hall. Alongside the students of IMT Mines Alès and the firefighters who will parade for Sainte Barbe, an orchestra will accompany to the Cratère square. From 6:30 p.m., the Christmas lights will be turned on for the first time this year: the big tree, the 22 km of garlands and the 250 light decorations will come to life.

Not one, but two Christmas markets

In addition to the Christmas market, set up on the square in front of the Cratère from December 4 to 31 and which will see around thirty artisans succeed one another in the 16 chalets, a second market will be organized on Sunday December 15from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., in Grand'rue Jean Moulin, rue de la République and rue Jan Castagno. Delicacies, books, candles, accessories and other decorative elements will be offered.

Parades in the heart of the city

Many parades are organized with the mascots in the heart of the city December 7, 14, and 16 to 24. Among them, the parade of illuminated vehicles scheduled for December 7 at 6 p.m. and the parades of floats and mascots December 14, 21 and 24 at 2:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

A musical fireworks display

Saturday December 21the population is expected in rue Cazot, which will be closed to traffic, to attend fireworks from the Hermitage at 6:30 p.m. As on July 14 or August 15, it will be accompanied by music.
It will also be possible to see the fire from the banks of the Gardon.

Fun fair and ice rink also on the menu

Juntil January 12the funfair takes up its winter quarters on the fairgrounds on avenue Jules Guesde. More than twenty attractions will be installed along the Gardon. Thrilling rides, shooting galleries, caterpillars, bumper cars, duck fishing, haunted houses, hard rock casino, ice palace, delicacy stands… Part of it will also be installed on the Place des Martyrs-de-la-Résistance, right next to the ice rink which is also returning from Saturday December 7 to Sunday January 5. It is open during the week from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., then on weekends from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. (€2, skates provided). The complete program: click here.
