Lenôtre in , Leclerc in -d'Arcy, the Bascan high school and Carrefour City in , the Guerlain factory in Orphin, or even the Intermarché de Méré… These establishments in have a common point: they are all customers of PVM, one of the flagship companies in Montfort, established in Méré since 1992 after beginnings in 1952 in Villiers-Saint-Frédéric.

Initially specializing in the marketing of regionally produced potatoes, PVM (like Parmentière de la Vallée de la Mauldre) and created by the Seray family, the company then evolved to become wholesaler in fruits and vegetables .

“The idea is to work as much as possible with local producers with whom we have long-standing partnerships. Anything that can be done locally, we do it. We always buy locally when possible. In season, salads come from Montesson for example. »

Thomas Vallenet, director of PVM

“But it is certain that for oranges, tomatoes, bananas (etc.), we treat with producers moreover, located in the best production areas,” explains Thomas Vallenet.

A family business

In air-conditioned warehouses of 3,500 m2, 2,000 referencesare available, divided into six distinct ranges. “The criteria for fruits and vegetables are different depending on the customers,” explains the director of PVM. Daycare centers do not require the same products as mass retailers, for the size of fruit for example. »

Well anchored territorially and ideally located in the immediate vicinity of the RN12close to , the company also serves Chartes, Vexin and the Mantois region.

Although the owners changed in 2021, the SME remains family-owned and employs 90 peopleincluding 30 drivers and 30 employees for inventory management and order preparation. The other employees are assigned to administrative missions or to the sales and purchasing department.

A new recycling policy

If previously, no real recycling policy for boxes or crates had been put in place at PVM, things changed two years ago. “With all the employees, we thought about what we could do as part of our CSR approach. Now, the boxes are compacted before leaving for where they are recycled,” explains director Thomas Vallenet.

Unsold fruits and vegetables, for their part, are stored before reaching the methanization unit of the Zoosafari in Thoiry, a few kilometers from Méré. “We also have a partnership with the Rambolitan association Bon et Rebond, which transforms ugly fruits or vegetables into excellent jams or spreads,” continues the director.

Even cigarette butts are recycled at PVM! The only problem is the plastics. The company has not yet found the appropriate recycling channel.

Integrated into a network of the national strike force

In three years, PVM has evolved a lot. Integrated into the Ribé network, it now has the support of the local wholesale cooperative Vivalya. With his 73 local businesses the strike force is now national, because the members of the network come together to respond to calls for tender.

“We supply major national restaurant chains like Buffalo. We also serve national catering markets. These actors are our daily partners. »

Rising turnover

As a result, in three years, turnover (CA) has increased by €10 million and stands at 32 M€ in 2024. The company has also recruited 30 additional people.

Nearly 50% of turnover is generated on the out-of-home catering(collective catering for nurseries, schools, businesses, etc.). The rest comes from small retailers of large distribution groups (G20, Système U, Leclerc, Intermarché, Franprix, etc.).

“We have nearly 700 active customers per week. Every day, PVM provides 250 drop-off points daily, six days a week. Sometimes we can deliver several times a day to the same customer. Our flexibility is our strength. »

Bringing the territory to life

Another axis that the company developed after the health crisis: a 100% Ile-de- grocery range, with PVM Saveurs. It is offered to customers to complete their local assortment needs. “We bring together the products of 30 Ile-de-France producers including several from Yvelin, explains Thomas Vallenet. Chocolates, beers, biscuits, Chevreuse syrups, lentils from the plain, Rambouillet coffee… A total of 800 references. A local roots which are added to fruits and vegetables. »

The Montfortois company is therefore doing well and is delighted to participate in its own way in bringing the region to life. In addition to its economic activity, it is also patronof several football schools, notably in Montfort l'Amaury and La Queue-lez-Yvelines.
