In Tessy-Bocage, in Manche, there is the butcher's shop, the bakery, the pharmacy, and, for two years, Alexia Duyck's bookstore-tea room, located on the town hall and theater square, in the heart of this town of just over 2,000 inhabitants.

A part-time person to support him

Installed in a former bakery with comfortable dimensions, its Seasonal Room attracts loyal customers. “I am delighted with the success of my bookstore,” confides the young woman who even recruited a part-time person to support her.

For help, hyperactive bookseller which multiplies the activities within its establishment – game evenings, knitting, talks, shows – really needs it, especially during this “very busy” Christmas period.

A place that lives

In fact, at the end of November, the bookstore is far from empty.

Two ladies enjoy tea and homemade cake, while learning about a book; a gentleman enters asking if he can have a coffee served, two other customers rummage through the shelves.

Canapes invite you to take your time, to leaf through the books.

The place lives. A real joy for Alexia, who dreamed, by opening this place, of offering “a friendly atmosphere, which invites exchange. »

“I love my job, every day is different. »

But also “to be able to pursue a job that would allow me to do as many things as possible. »

The choice of books, their presentation, the decoration, the communication, the activities, especially for children: “I love my job, every day is different. »

If at the beginning, his clientele came a lot from Saint-Lô or Vire, now, “I have a loyal local clientele”.
