The President of the Republic is visiting the Notre-Dame de Paris construction site this Friday, November 29, for the last time. More than 1,300 craftsmen, firefighters and other people involved in the reconstruction of the site will be present.
A final presidential visit. From 10:30 a.m., and for approximately two hours, Emmanuel Macron will stroll one last time this Friday, November 29 within the Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral, before the grand inauguration ceremony on December 7.
The President of the Republic “will meet the craftsmen, journeymen, architects and engineers who have successfully met the challenge of reconstruction in five years”, specifies a press release from the Élysée Palace.
“From the nave to the framework via the choir and its ambulatory, it is a final visit in ten stages, symbolizing the rebirth of Notre-Dame in which the President of the Republic will participate,” notes the press release.
Rachida Dati and Anne Hidalgo present
Emmanuel Macron will be accompanied by the First Lady, the Minister of Culture Rachida Dati and the Mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo, the Archpriest of Notre-Dame and the Archbishop of the capital.
The second phase of work, dedicated to the square or to the Jean XXIII square and the Maurice Carême promenade, will begin at the end of 2025 and should last until the total rehabilitation of the premises in 2030, eleven years after the tragedy of 15 and 16 April 2019.
