Students in the 4th grade class at LEAP Lestonnac had the opportunity to make several visits with two specific objectives: immersion in the professional world and cultural discovery. Thus, on Thursday morning, they visited the Ethiquable chocolate factory in Fleurance, in the Gers, where they were able to meet the employees, understand the issue and the importance of fair trade and what a Scop was. The visit ended with a gourmet break during which they learned the art of tasting. Then, they spent the afternoon at the public school museum in Saint-Clar (32) to discover the first school in the village and its collection of school and teaching materials. They were able to experience school the old-fashioned way thanks to the sets, costumes and games of yesteryear as they existed at the beginning of the 20th century. They even had the opportunity to give dictation in the classroom, thus learning how to use the pen and its purple ink. Finally, they went to Flaran Abbey, in Valence-sur-Baïse (32), all day Friday. On site, they discovered the abbey, its walls and its creation. Between activities, a walk around the abbey and a calligraphy workshop where they were introduced to writing with the calame and the quill of yesteryear, they were able to immerse themselves in the world of the Middle Ages and learn more about this period.
These two days, intense and immersive, were great moments of learning and sharing.
