Last weekend the Vaucluse Food Bank had begun their great collection annual supply of foodstuffs and basic necessities.
Unfortunately, as the association announces on its Facebook post, the results this year are slightly down. While last year, volunteers collected 93 tons of foodthis time the operation made it possible to harvest 92 tonnes of foodstuffs in the department.
An operation deployed throughout Vaucluse
From Carpentras to Orange via Avignon and Cavaillon, the Vaucluse Food Bank has placed more than 800 volunteers in 65 collection points from November 22 to 24. The 92 tonnes of food collected this year during the operation represent approximately 9% of the total food distributed.
They will help 55,000 Vauclusians living in precarious conditions.
Always need volunteers
As indicated on their site, affiliated with the French Federation of Food Banks (FFBA), the Banque Alimentaire du Vaucluse was created in 1995. It is run by 73 permanent volunteers and 7 employees who are involved all year round.
Throughout the year it is possible to join the movement or support the actions carried out by the association in the department.
