Municipal elections in Paris: for Emmanuel Grégoire, Rémi Féraud is “the instrument of Anne Hidalgo’s revenge”

The race for the 2026 municipal elections promises to be eventful in . While the mayor (PS) Anne Hidalgo has just announced that she will not be a candidate for re-election in 18 months, the first candidates announced are entering the battle… And they are not mincing their words.

Guest on RTL on Wednesday evening, Emmanuel Grégoire, official candidate for a week, said he “regretted” the choice of senator (PS) Rémi Féraud to also launch into the battle. While the latter received the support of the outgoing mayor, Emmanuel Grégoire sees in him “the instrument of Anne Hidalgo’s revenge”.

Rémi Féraud proposed shortly before uniting the forces of the municipal majority (socialists, ecologists and communists) by dismissing LFI. “I am looking for a meeting with the district mayors, elected officials, and federation officials. My goal is to bring together all socialists, including Emmanuel Grégoire,” he declared.

“The activists will choose”

At this suggestion, Anne Hidalgo's former first deputy first declared that he was “in the same spirit”. And certified to sincerely appreciate Rémi Féraud, “a fellow traveler of activist commitment for almost 20 years. » “It’s not because he’s running against me that I’m taking away 20 years of affection from him,” he quipped.

For his part, Rémi Féraud defends himself and pleads the legitimacy of his candidacy. Anne Hidalgo's statement “is not a designation,” he said. Anne Hidalgo indicated her preference for my candidacy, because it is part of a logic of transmission. I am a candidate because I believe that I am best able to ensure this transmission, to bring together the socialists and the municipal majority. »

In fine“the important thing is to know who has the most energy, who will be the most mobilized, who will carry the left-wing family to the 2026 municipal elections and the activists will choose which candidate they believe is best placed to win », says Emmanuel Grégoire.

“Before announcing things, we must have a dialogue”

The one who became a deputy for Paris thanks to the anticipated legislative elections in July still took advantage of his appearance on RTL to question the project revealed by Rémi Féraud in the columns of Le Parisien to extend the limited traffic zone (ZTL) to the whole of Paris. “I totally share the ambition to reduce the space of the car as quickly as possible but I think this announcement is a bit improvised, which is exactly what I don't want to do. Before announcing things, we must dialogue, discuss, organize,” says Emmanuel Grégoire.

It will now be up to the 3,000 members of the capital's socialist federation to decide between the two candidates at a date still unknown. Emmanuel Grégoire has already received the support of 450 Parisian socialist activists.
